SYDNEY, Jan 15 AAP - The Canberra Times says the United States is behaving in a reprehensibleway in its treatment of people it has captured in Afghanistan.
It says the US authorities have got themselves into a legal and moral twist over thebasis on which the prisoners are being held.
"Are they suspects in a crime committed in the United States? Are they prisoners ofwar? Or are they something else?," the paper says.
It says the US is right to pursue those responsible for the crimes of September 11but that does not give them the right to abrogate the rule of law and replace it …
